Venue

Is the venue licensed for Civil Ceremonies?

Absolutely - Stables pride itself on being a ‘one-stop shop’ for your wedding day.

How long can you hold the date for?

Stables hold the date for two weeks to give you time to speak with the registrars or church. After this, we will need to take a deposit from you.

Do we pay you for the registrars?

No, we take the payment for the ceremony to be held here, which is included in the venue hire. There is a separate fee to pay to the registrars.

How much is the deposit?

The deposit is £1,000 to secure the venue hire & The Hayloft. Stables can also block the hotel rooms from this point if you wish to do so.

How many can you fit in the room itself?

The downstairs space has a capacity of 120 for a sit-down meal and 200 max for the evening (combined with 120 seated and 80 standing). The upstairs ‘ceremony’ room has a capacity of 60.

Can we get married outside?

Absolutely - the courtyard is licenced for outside ceremonies, as long as you are standing underneath the wooden structure at the far side of the courtyard. You can also get married in the open air, but this would mean it would be part of a duo ceremony meaning you’d have to head inside or under the wooden structure to sign the register and make the ceremony legal.

What is your refund policy?

Our £1000 deposits are non-refundable should you wish to cancel your wedding with us. However, if we were to cancel your booking for any reason, then the deposit would be refunded.

Facilities

Do you have any bedrooms onsite?

Absolutely - Stables pride itself on being a ‘one-stop shop’ for your wedding day and reserving 13 of our 22 rooms for your guests to book.

What about wheelchair access to the garden?

Our venue is fully accessible downstairs, with a small ramp into the garden.

Can I stay here with my bridesmaids the night before?

We have a fantastic suite, The Hayloft, that’s included with venue hire for two nights (the night before and the night of your wedding) as part of your booking - this space sleeps up to 6, so it’s the perfect ‘pre-wedding’ location. The room will then be cleaned during the ceremony so it’s ready for the bride and groom on their wedding night.

Do I get a discount on the rooms for my guests?

Yes, if you are a Norfolk Passport holder you will get 10% off rooms.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, several dog-friendly rooms are available; we have also had dogs walk the bride down the aisle in the past!

Your Wedding Day

Can we have photos next door through the archway?

Unfortunately not, this land is privately owned by residents, so we cannot access it for photos. However, Sandringham is a 5-minute drive away and has stunning scenery for photographs!

How does it work so the groom doesn’t see me before we get married?

The team will be on hand to help you navigate the venue ‘unseen’. If the groom is also staying onsite, it would be ensured that you are booked in for breakfast at different times, too - Brides tend to come down at 7 am and have a quick breakfast before having their hair and makeup done.

What do we do if I have guests who have allergies?

Before your event, you will be asked to send over any specific dietary requests you or your guests have. The most appropriate options will then be suggested moving forward. For instance, if they had a particular allergy that could not be recreated in the meal, it is recommended to make them their plate.

Can we have an outside wedding?

Yes, you can have an outside wedding, but sadly it isn't the venue’s decision, as the registrars have the final say. This decision comes down to the weather and whether there is a risk to the guest's safety (i.e. sunstroke). With this in mind, the wedding ceremony is set up an hour before the registrars arrive to ensure flexibility.

I have a few children who need high chairs. Do you supply these, or do we?

There are several highchairs at Stables and the main restaurant. Please inform the team how many highchairs you need to ensure enough on the day.

Do you supply the decorations and DJs etc.?

No, the main details are supplied, including tables, chairs, tablecloths, cutlery, glassware, and napkins—everything else you need to book through other companies. Recommendations can be provided if required. You can check out Stables' trusted suppliers here.

Can we have a band or DJ Outside?

A DJ or band can be arranged to play outside in the courtyard until 11pm, after which the music can be moved inside for you and your guests to dance until midnight.

Do I have to use your recommended suppliers?

The in-house team is in charge of the catering and bar, but you can bring in your suppliers for any other aspects of your wedding day. Here’s a link to Stables’ trusted suppliers.

What are the minimum numbers allowed for the ceremony?

The minimum numbers for payment are 55 for the day/ceremony during Peak Season. Outside of Peak Season, there are no minimum numbers.

How flexible are you with the timings for the day?

Ensuring that the timings guide you for your wedding day is essential. A month before your wedding date, a meeting will be booked to run through every detail of the day, ensuring you can relax knowing everything will be handled. Maintaining flexibility on your wedding day, any adjustments needed to keep the 'flow' of the wedding running smoothly will be consulted with you first.
